Equity and Inclusion Series Webinar I: “Latino, Latinx, Latine…What’s in a Name: Who We Are and Why It Matters”

This workshop will address the ever-evolving multigenerational Latinx communities in the United States. Presenters will address the continued evolution of Latinx communities’ identities, why understanding intersectionality matters, and how the sociopolitical contexts create narratives about Latinx communities that continue to reflect half-truths and misconceptions. Presenters will address understanding Latinx communities from strength-based perspectives as necessary foundations to providing culturally relevant and grounded services. Learning Objectives: Upon completion of the workshop, attendees will be able to: 1) Understand how Hispanic, Latino/a, Latine, and Latinx communities’ identities change and why. 2) Understand and define what Latinx/Latine intersectionality means. 3) Identify two strength-based values/resources in Latinx/Latine communities. The presentation will be 60 minutes, with an additional 15 minutes dedicated to Q&A for a total of 75 minutes.
